PCS Union Strike Ballot
The motion
That the Parliament notes the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union decision to launch a strike ballot over pay; understands that the PCS will consult 120,000 of its members who work in the UK civil service; acknowledges that, despite lifting the pay cap for other public sector workers, UK ministers have refused to lift the pay cap for the civil service; understands that, as a result of higher living costs, the average civil servant is now £2,110 worse off since 2010; applauds this collective effort towards a fairer pay deal, and stands in solidarity with those workers taking action to end years of austerity in public services.
