Annan Solutions Team Opens its Doors

That the Parliament welcomes that the new Annan Solutions Team officially opens its doors on 22 March 2019 at its new office at the Annan Business Park; notes that the team was established as a result of funding secured by Dumfries and Galloway Council from the South of Scotland Economic Partnership; understands that it is one strand of work taking place in the town in response to Young’s Seafood closing its Pinneys factory in the town, which saw the loss of approximately 450 permanent jobs and 300 seasonal and agency jobs; notes that the team will seek to attract new businesses to the Annan area, support existing business and enterprises to grow and work with the new owners of the Pinneys site, Bhagat Holdings Limited, to support its growth and employment aspirations; understands that it will also develop an economic action plan for the Annan and DG12 area; considers that this is an excellent example of economic investment to help grow the local economy, and believes that the public sector should be ready to help fund projects resulting from the action plan to assist the area to fully recover from recent economic shocks and to grow the local economy.
