Mary-Denise McKernan Retires from Carers of West Lothian
The motion
That the Parliament applauds the work of Mary-Denise McKernan, CEO of Carers of West Lothian, who retired in January 2019; understands that Mary-Denise joined the charity in May 2000 as Centre Co-ordinator; notes that the Carers of West Lothian team has grown from two staff members to 15, while the number of carers it provides assistance to has grown from 700 in 2000 to 5,000 in 2018; considers that the growth in services can very much be attributed to Mary-Denise’s commitment to securing extra funding; recognises that one of Mary Denise’s most recent achievements was to secure funding that would provide support to disabled people; appreciates that Mary Denise has been a proud advocate of carers' issues, dedicating much of her life to the organisation, and very much wishes her a long, relaxing and happy retirement following a very productive and successful career.
