Two Inverclyde Groups Benefit from Climate Challenge Fund

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Inverclyde Association for Mental Health and Belville Community Garden Trust on receiving almost £300,000 between them from the Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge Fund for 2019 to 2021; understands that the Broomhill Community Hub and Gardens project, which is run by the Inverclyde Association for Mental Health, has been awarded £185,316 to help Broomhill residents reduce carbon emissions by growing more local produce and tackling food waste; recognises that the Belville Community Garden Trust’s Great Big Community Food Cycle will use its award of £149,791 to support residents in Inverclyde to reduce their food waste by setting up a Community Fridge network and promoting local produce; believes that both of these organisations are worthy recipients of the Climate Change Fund, which awards community-led initiatives that aim to provide local people with practical ways to lessen their carbon footprint and impact on the environment; thanks the Scottish Government for this funding, and wishes both of the projects and everyone involved every success.
