Orkney's New MSYPs, Maya Tams-Gray and Hope Laing

That the Parliament congratulates Maya Tams-Gray and Hope Laing on being elected to represent Orkney in the Scottish Youth Parliament; believes that Maya and Hope will provide a strong voice and be effective champions for young Orcadians; commends the other three candidates, Elizabeth Gorn, Emma Grant and Rachel Evans, on helping to make the election a good contest with a high-quality choice of candidates that raised a lot of important issues, including mental health, the national minimum wage and having access to a full range of subjects in school; credits Radio Orkney, The Orcadian and Orkney Islands Council for working together to ensure that the campaign engaged with young people; thanks Cheryl Rafferty, in her role as the lead Community Learning and Development Officer and in making sure that Maya, Hope, Elizabeth, Emma and Rachel were supported and given the tools that they needed to run their campaigns; acknowledges the outstanding contribution and commitment of Jack Norquoy and Calum McArthur as Orkney’s MSYPs over the last four and two years respectively, and wishes Maya and Hope all the best, working alongside Orkney Youth Forum, in delivering positive changes for young people in Orkney and across Scotland.
