Women of Inspiration 2019

That the Parliament congratulates Lindsey Porter of Yoga-Nu-U on being awarded a Women of Inspiration award by the Association of Scottish Businesswomen; notes that Lindsey and 13 other worthy award winners were honoured at a special reception hosted by the Scottish Chambers of Commerce in Glasgow on International Women’s Day; understands that the awards honour and celebrate the achievement and contribution of inspirational women in business and the wider community and that each woman was nominated by someone who felt that they were deserving of the award, an inspiration to others, role models or leaders in their professions, women who have excelled in their careers or who have encouraged others and impacted lives in the wider community; understands that Yoga-Nu-U was set up in 2015 by Lindsey after 20 years in the financial services sector, and is about embracing and accepting who you are on and off the mat and in the community, exploring boundaries and finding new edges, making yoga accessible and keeping it real; notes that Lindsey is an advocate for good mental health, and that this was the focus of a parliamentary reception with SAMH in October 2018 entitled Yoga: Mental Health & Wellbeing, which sought to share the benefits of yoga in promoting good mental health; congratulates Lindsey and all the winners of Women of Inspiration awards, and looks forward to hearing of more activities in promoting good health and wellbeing in communities.
