Jayne Clason, Judo Coach of the Year

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Jayne Clason, who is an instructor at Deanburn Judo Club, on being named as the coach of the year at the recent British Judo Council awards; understands that Jayne has represented Team Scotland at previous Commonwealth Games and has also won several medals at GB level; notes that the family-run Deanburn club, which was established in 1988, caters for primary school pupils in and around the Grangemouth area; recognises what it sees as the benefit of martial arts in helping children and young people in communities achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle and teaching them skills such as self-discipline and respect for themselves and others; encourages more young people to take up sports and activities outside of school to help ensure that the country's future is healthy and active; applauds Jayne on her award, and looks forward to hearing of continued success for her and the club.
