The motion

That the Parliament commends pupils, staff and the wider school community at Whitburn Academy for their recent concert to raise awareness of mental health issues; understands that the event saw pupils and staff addressing topics such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, substance misuse, domestic violence, suicide, stress and other factors that affect mental health through song, poetry and personal testimony; believes that this was an innovative and very effective way to open up discussions about the health and wellbeing of pupils; wishes the school every success with its Be Herd project and its new mental health hub, and hopes that other schools will follow the lead of Whitburn Academy in addressing the mental wellbeing of all pupils.
