Lodged by Emma Harper Standard Motion 3 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Galloway Cattle Society on its work; understands that, with assistance from the Dumfries and Galloway LEADER programme, the society, through its Defining Galloway Beef Project, has been working to raise awareness of this ancient, sustainable, native breed, which is considered to be "at risk"; believes that creating consumer demand is the best way to secure its future; understands that the breed has positive environmental impacts and that the beef from it is an exceptional meat, with a full, rich flavour; congratulates Fraser Cameron on being appointed as the chef ambassador for the breed at the age of just 21; recognises that his work with the society is as a direct result of Scotland’s Year of Young People; looks forward to seeing the breed having a higher profile through the work that the society does, including its efforts to get beef from the breed into Aldi stores across the country, and notes that more information about the breed can be found at gallowaybeef.co.uk.
