Making Learning Work at Forth Valley College

That the Parliament congratulates Forth Valley College (FVC) on achieving an "Excellent" grade for Leadership and Quality and two "Very Good" grades for Outcomes and Impact and for Delivery of Service in the latest Evaluative Report and Enhancement Plan released by Education Scotland; understands that FVC has achieved similar endorsements over the last five years, confirming its place as one of the strongest performing sector-leading colleges across the UK; commends the significant work undertaken by the college in ensuring that students achieve under all circumstances, including "Time 4 Me", a new £143,000 mentoring support scheme funded by The Robertson Trust and run through Forth Valley College’s Student Services Department, and a new Carers Charter, which has led to the college been accredited as an Engaged Carer Positive Employer in Scotland to "exemplary" standard; understands that the college was short-listed for Best Teaching and Learning Initiative at the TES UK Further Education Awards 2018 for its innovative back warm-up learning programme, I am the Machine; considers that support services at the college are also highly regarded, having won the main Grand Prix Award, two golds and one bronze at the CDN Marketing Awards 2018; notes that the college’s exam pass rate has also increased for the third year in a row, with a total of 88% of SQA National Qualification students successfully passing their course; applauds the efforts of staff and students, under the leadership of principal, Dr Ken Thomson, in ensuring that FVC is indeed a place that makes learning work; looks forward to the opening of the new Falkirk Campus of the college in 2019, and wishes all staff and students continued success.
