MEAction Scotland and the Draft Neurological Action Plan

That the Parliament understands that the draft neurological action plan sets out 17 commitments that aim to offer people living with neurological conditions access to improved care and support; believes that this represents potential progress for people affected by life-changing conditions; applauds the aim to introduce the first such national plan on neurological care; understands however that ME, or chronic fatigue syndrome, has previously been denigrated by neurological services and that it is not included in the two key pieces of work, on the prevalence and the mapping of neurological services, that were commissioned to underpin the plan; notes that MEAction Scotland, which is part of an international network of people that works towards health equality for people with ME, has expressed regret that it believes that the plan does not address the current situation relating to the support and treatment of people with the condition, and hopes that the final plan will rectify this to help ensure that it will be able to develop effective services for all people with neurological illnesses, including ME.
