Wishaw Pumptrack Named as UK Qualifier Venue for World Championships
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Wishawhill Wood Pumptrack in Craigneuk on being selected as the venue for the UK qualifier of the Pump Track World Championships; notes that this is one of over 20 qualifiers being held around the world; understands that the competition, which is in its second year, is open to riders from all walks of life and is expected to attract over 5,000 entrants worldwide; recognises that Wishawhill Wood Pumptrack, which was built using funds from the Scottish Government’s Vacant and Derelict Land Fund, is a purpose-built track for BMX bikes, mountain bikes and skateboards, and offers the experience of mountain biking in urban areas; commends Wishaw Mountain Bike Club and Socialtrack, a social enterprise set up by the club, which manage the site and offer lessons and bike maintenance classes; applauds the efforts of all those involved in making the pump track a success, and wishes them well in all future endeavours.
