Congratulations to West Lothian's Circular Economy Challenge Finalists

That the Parliament congratulates the three West Lothian primary schools, Seafield, St Paul’s in East Calder and Whitdale in Whitburn, which went head-to-head in the finals of the Circular Economy Challenge, an environmental initiative run by the resource recovery firm, Veolia, in partnership with Developing the Young Workforce West Lothian, Scotland’s Enterprising Schools and Young Enterprise Scotland; understands that, after an in-class lesson, each class was given eight weeks to come up with a business idea that demonstrates circular economy principles before making their presentations to the judging panel; commends everyone who took part on the quality of their presentations and congratulates them on their fantastic ideas; understands that Whitdale won with its Wooden World Wide idea, which was about turning pencil sharpenings back into pencils, Animal Day Care, a sustainable animal care service, by Seafield was second and St Paul’s came third with its Got You Gold idea of recycling gold and precious metals from mobile devices, and wishes all the pupils well with their future endeavours to help meet today’s environmental challenges.
