Westside Plaza Celebrates Scottish Green Apple Successes
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the team at Westside Plaza, Wester Hailes Shopping Centre, on winning a gold and a bronze award at the Scottish Green Apple Environment Awards; understands that the awards were established in 1994 as an annual campaign to recognise, reward and promote environmental performance and sustainable development and encourage efficient use of resources around the world; recognises that, in the highly competitive Environment Best Practice category, Westside Plaza’s Property & Estate Management team was recognised for its outstanding efforts in the areas of carbon reduction, energy management and water management; appreciates that more than 458,000 litres of water is reported to have been saved, along with 21 tonnes of carbon dioxide and 60,693kWh of energy, which is the approximate energy consumption of 13 households in a year, and commends the collective efforts of the centre manager, Alex Limond, the service and maintenance teams, retailers and shoppers in achieving this.
