The People’s Pantry Aiming to Tackle Food Waste
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the new project operated by The People’s Pantry from The Centre in Leven, which is aimed at cutting food waste and single-use plastic and will be launched in April 2019; notes that it will give people an opportunity to access a café for a free drink and chat, a pick ’n’ mix refill station with daily essentials such as pasta, rice and coffee, and entry to a pantry filled with various foodstuffs; understands that users will get 10 tokens that they can then use to pick up different foods; believes that these will cost £2 per week, which will fund the cost of their transportation to The Centre; understands that a key element of The People’s Pantry project is to tackle period poverty and that, in this regard, it will provide free sanitary products, and wishes those involved with the project the best of luck.
