JPI Media Redundancies
The motion
That the Parliament condemns the reported decision by JPI Media to make a further 70 editorial staff across the UK redundant; understands that 60 of the posts will fall across its regional titles, with 10 at risk at The Scotsman, Scotland on Sunday and the Edinburgh Evening News, despite this group remaining profitable; believes that local and regional news outlets are critical to the health of the nation's democracy, with the Scotsman group being a trusted news brand; expresses solidarity with the group's workforce and the other editorial staff at risk, and calls for the redundancies to be halted.
