Commending the Contribution of Andy Chung and Glasgow’s Chinese People
The motion
That the Parliament commends the longstanding efforts of Chinese people in north Glasgow and across the city to celebrate the Chinese New Year in an inclusive, engaging, enthusiastic and fun way; believes that such efforts are important in strengthening the vibrant and significant cultural contribution that Chinese people make to Glasgow and Scotland; further believes that these events allow communities to celebrate their cultural heritage and pass this on to future generations; commends Andy Chung, who, since 2015 and in partnership with ng homes, has been instrumental in securing annual civic receptions in Glasgow City Chambers for the Chinese community and in organising New Year celebration events for the wider public in Glasgow’s George Square; notes that Andy has made several valuable contributions to the Chinese community over the years, including by helping to establish the Chinese Cultural and Welfare Society Scotland and the Glasgow Chinese Recreation Centre; further notes his charitable work, including his efforts with the Lodging House Mission to provide meals for homeless people; thanks Andy for his efforts, and wishes him every success for many years to come.
