Asda's Happy Little Helper Boards
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Asda on its Happy Little Helper boards, which it has introduced to make shopping trips more fun for children with learning or communication difficulties; understands that it has worked closely with The Makaton Charity to create fun shopping lists using the charity's black and white symbols; notes that Makaton is a language programme that uses such signs and symbols to help children and adults communicate; acknowledges that feedback from customers shows that the boards capture children’s interest, gives them a sense of purpose and a feeling of responsibility and makes shopping trips more fun; understands that Asda is the first major UK supermarket to roll out these Makaton counters; notes that the boards will be available at all Asda outlets, including its Maryhill, Parkhead, Robroyston and Toryglen stores, and hopes that they prove to be successful.
