Syd Smith, Friend and Champion of the Workers
The motion
That the Parliament notes the retirement of Syd Smith, senior partner of Thompsons Solicitors Scotland; acknowledges what it considers his significant contribution to the trade union movement and workers' rights through his campaigning for law reform, work with the Law Society of Scotland and case work, which often pushed or settled the boundaries of the law, and thanks him for his dedication to civic society and victims of industrial accident throughout Scotland, including in the Lothians.
