Motion · S5M-17083 · 26 Apr 2019
Lesbian Day of Visibility
The motion
That the Parliament recognises that 26 April is Lesbian Day of Visibility, with 2019 being the 12th year in which this particular LGBT+ awareness day has been celebrated; applauds the aim to highlight the diversity of the lesbian community internationally, representing all racial and ethnic backgrounds, as well as faith backgrounds; understands that one in five LGBT people have experienced a hate crime or incident because of their sexual orientation and/or gender identity in the last 12 months; recognises that the day is a chance to stand in solidarity with lesbian friends, family and colleagues, and hopes that all people can strive towards creating a world where everyone can live their lives openly and freely.
