Shetland Young Fiddler of the Year Awards 2019

That the Parliament congratulates the winners of the 2019 Shetland Young Fiddler of the Year Awards; notes that Ashley Hay won the overall title, after her success in the Traditional and Open senior categories and winning the prize for best played slow air; applauds the other award winners, Evie Williamson, who won the Young Fiddler and Traditional junior categories, Anya Johnston, for the best played reel, Gracie Gowans-Little, the Intermediate Young Fiddler winner, Maisie Henderson, who won the Traditional Intermediate category, Holly Anderson, for the best played waltz, Christine Hughson, for the best reel in the Shetland style and Jayden Moore and Margaret Robertson, who won the Junior and Senior tune competitions respectively; commends all of the competitors for their dedication, and believes that their achievements represent a thriving future for Shetland’s traditional music.
