Cassiltoun Housing Associations’ Advice Team’s Success
The motion
That the Parliament acknowledges the success of the Cassiltoun Housing Association advice team in securing over £3 million for its tenants in welfare payments and other benefits; recognises the positive impact that the team has made in sustaining and supporting tenancies, including by assisting with managing tenants' personal finance, breaking down social isolation and facilitating pathways to better health; notes that a recent evaluation of the advice team’s service has also significantly contributed to improving people's mental health by alleviating tenants’ many concerns, such as dealing with the anxieties that it believes are being created by welfare reforms, including fears of being driven into poverty and suicidal feelings, and commends the team on its endeavours.
