Recognising Queen’s Park FC
The motion
That the Parliament recognises that Queen’s Park FC took part in Amnesty International’s Football Welcomes Refugees campaign over the weekend of 27-28 April 2019; notes that the club demonstrated its commitment to promoting inclusion and standing in solidarity with those forced to abandon their homes due to conflict and persecution; acknowledges that a total of 15 clubs across Scotland took part in actions to mark the contribution of refugees to football, as well as highlighting the important role that the sport can play in making refugees and asylum seekers feel welcome in Scotland, and notes that clubs became involved in the campaign by offering match tickets to refugees, hosting matches between refugee teams, warming up in Football Welcomes Refugees t-shirts and posting supportive messages across social media.
