Deaf Awareness Week 2019
The motion
That the Parliament celebrates Deaf Awareness Week, which runs from 6 to 12 May 2019; recognises the valuable contributions of deaf people in Scottish society and the achievements of those who have been supported by Action on Hearing Loss Scotland’s specialist employment service into work; welcomes the positive impacts generated by the charity’s Hear to Inform and Connect service, which informs people over the age of 50 about the benefits of getting their hearing checked; appreciates the inspirational contributions of volunteers supporting people in communities throughout Scotland who are deaf or have hearing loss, and encourages everyone to learn some British Sign Language (BSL).
