Hippodrome Silent Film Festival, Hippfest 2019

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the organisers of Hippfest 2019 on another successful year showcasing the Hippodrome Silent Film Festival, which was held in Bo’ness; notes that this year’s festival featured seven sell-out shows over the five days of the festival, with ticket sales up 17% compared to previous years; believes that Hippfest is Scotland’s first and only silent film festival, and is organised by Falkirk Community Trust through the directorship of Alison Strauss and with support from Falkirk Council, FilmHub Scotland, Creative Scotland and Visit Falkirk; notes that the festival was able to provide BSL interpreters and electronic note taking for D/deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences at all of the talks and introductions to the opening night and Friday night screenings, with support from the Hugh Fraser Foundation; congratulates everyone involved in organising Hippfest and on another triumphant year, and looks forward to next year’s festival, which will held in March, and all future Hippfests in the years to come.
