Inverclyde Academy Pupils Build their own Winning Race Car
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Inver Racers, a team of eight pupils from Inverclyde Academy, on building their own red and black F24 race car; notes that the team has been taking part in a West College Scotland and Developing the Young Workforce initiative and have attended the college’s Greenock campus to learn engineering skills; understands that they had to run their race team like a business, raising money and securing sponsorship from local businesses; commends the team on being crowned Scottish champions at the Greenpower Challenge competition in East Fortune, after emerging victorious in the Kit Car category and finishing first in both races against 23 teams from all over Scotland; appreciates that the team has been invited to race against teams from across the world at the final at Silverstone in October 2019 but needs to raise money to get to the final and to pay for a practice race in Aberdeen in June; wishes the team well in its fundraising efforts, and hopes that it is able to replicate its success in the final.
