South Lanarkshire Council Petitions Committee
The motion
That the Parliament understands with disappointment and concern that South Lanarkshire Council’s new Petitions Committee has not met since the council voted for its establishment; notes that it is intended to be a cross-party committee where members of the public can have petitions on local issues heard by councillors; further notes that the petition pages on South Lanarkshire Council’s website remain blank, with no meetings having taken place and no petitions raised, and encourages the South Lanarkshire SNP administration to deliver on its 2017 manifesto promise to ensure that a platform is available for local people to positively engage with local political processes, express their views and raise issues that are important to them.
