USDAW Protecting Shopworkers from Abuse
The motion
That the Parliament expresses its horror at the recent findings by the union, USDAW, which show that on average, a Scottish shopworker is threatened, abused or assaulted over 20 times a year; considers that shopworkers need to be protected in the face of such regular abuse; welcomes the proposal for a members’ bill, the Proposed Protection of Workers (Retail and Age-Restricted Sales etc) (Scotland) Bill by Daniel Johnson MSP, which it considers has been wholeheartedly backed by shopworkers themselves, Usdaw, Asda, the Co-op and the Scottish Grocers Federation, and encourages Members across the Parliament to do likewise.
