Knock the House Down
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the Netflix documentary film, Knock the House Down, which follows the political campaigns of four candidates, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Amy Vilela, Cori Bush and Paula Jean Sweareng running for Congress in the United States; notes that the informative film follows the four female Democrats during the 2018 mid-term elections; acknowledges that the film highlights the difficulties faced by women in politics and explores the nature of power; recognises what it sees as the subtle argument within the film that the emotions of women are sources of power, not liabilities, and hopes that it will be a source of encouragement to all people from diverse backgrounds to consider entering politics.
