Orkney Retains Sevens Title

That the Parliament congratulates Orkney RFC on retaining its title at the Orkney Rugby Sevens tournament at a packed Pickaquoy Centre, Kirkwall, on 4 May 2019; understands that Orkney RFC secured its 22nd title with a 26-12 win over the 2016 winners, Peebles, in a keenly-contested final, which saw tries from Stephen MacPhail, Alex Kansour, Matt Jackson and James Linklater; recognises the individual success of Stephen MacPhail and Rhys Davies on winning the home player and young player of the tournament awards respectively after outstanding performances throughout the tournament; congratulates Grangemouth on competing in the Orkney Sevens for the 30th consecutive year; acknowledges the success of Orkney Dragons, Eastionians, Auld Bulls and Ale Stars on winning the Women's trophy, Pail, Bowl and Plate finals respectively; notes that Orkney RFC's 50th anniversary book, Still Flying High After 50 Years, was flying off the shelves during the course of the day; thanks all the players, supporters and everyone else who helped contribute to another highly successful event, and wishes the club's president, Brian Lanni, and all involved with Orkney RFC and Orkney Dragons the very best for the future.
