Motion · S5M-17320 · 15 May 2019
Congratulations to John Paul Donnelly and GDA on a Successful Big Milton Fun Day
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the efforts of John Paul Donnelly, who, in partnership with the Glasgow Disability Alliance (GDA), secured participatory budgeting (PB) funds from Glasgow City Council to host a hugely successful inclusive gala day, The Big Milton Fun Day, at the Glasgow Life facility in Milton; acknowledges that the £750 secured through Glasgow’s Thriving Places PB funds and an additional £500 from the Allander Group were used effectively to ensure a busy, successful, informative and fun day for the many hundreds of visitors who attended on 11 May 2019; believes that it is vitally important that PB is accessible and empowering to all groups within Scotland's communities, particularly those with barriers to participation; thanks all the stall holders and participants who supported the event as well everyone who helped raised £340 in a raffle to support St Augustine’s foodbank; believes that such events demonstrate the wonderful community spirit within Milton and also the ability of PB to empower members of the community, and commends John Paul on his determination and leadership to secure and deliver a hugely successful inclusive gala day in Milton.
