Freedom from Torture Charity Bike Ride
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the Edinburgh supporters’ group of the charity, Freedom from Torture, on its forthcoming cycle ride from Hastings to Edinburgh to raise awareness of the needs of survivors of torture and of the work done by the group; applauds the active link with Bikes for Refugees, Scotland, though which one rider, Violet Hejazi, a young Syrian refugee, acquired a bicycle and is learning to ride and maintain it; appreciates the wide support being given to this event, particularly from faith communities, and welcomes the launch of the cycle ride outside the Parliament on the UN International Day in Support of Victims of Torture on 26 June 2019.
