RSPB Scotland's Puffarazzi
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the launch of the latest phase of RSPB Scotland’s citizen-science project, Puffarazzi, which will ask visitors to Scotland’s famous puffin colonies over spring and summer to upload to the website, rspb.org.uk/projectpuffin, their photos of the seabirds carrying fish, as well as any historic photos with a known year and colony location; understands that this will allow scientific analysis of puffin diets over time; acknowledges that they are one of Scotland’s best loved birds and are also a key indicator of changes in the marine environment; notes that the species is now on the IUCN Red List, which indicates increased extinction risk, and encourages participation in what it sees as this exciting project to help conserve and protect the puffin in the face of climate change challenges.
