Traprain Treasure

The motion

That the Parliament acknowledges that the Traprain Treasure has returned to East Lothian, 100 years after its discovery on Traprain Law; understands that the collection of Roman hacksilver, silver fragments of a set weight that has been cut from other objects, includes engraved plates, spoons and a decorative flagon; believes that it is the largest such collection ever discovered in Europe and is considered to be the most important European silver find from beyond the Roman frontier; notes that it had been held in the National Museum of Scotland since its discovery, but has now returned to East Lothian to be displayed at the John Gray Centre in Haddington until the end of October 2019; thanks Dr Claire Pannell and Dr Fraser Hunter for curating the exhibition, and wishes them and all the staff at the centre every success with it.
