Commending the Efforts of Primary School Student, Marc O’Neill
The motion
That the Parliament commends the efforts of the primary school student, Marc O’Neill, in seeking to ensure that his local community is tidy and litter-free; understands that each week Marc, along with his mum, Margaret, does a litter pick-up along Ashgill Road and nearby areas in Glasgow’s Milton estate in order to improve the local environment for residents; believes that it is important that society acknowledges, appreciates and encourages such every day acts of civic responsibility by young people; thanks the Facebook page, no1seems2care, for highlighting this selfless activity from Marc and his mum, while noting that local authorities should ensure regular and effective de-littering of public areas; acknowledges that the underlying issue is often those who drop litter in the first place, and hopes that Marc’s positive example may encourage others to think twice about littering in the first place.
