Order of the Scottish Samurai Awards 2019

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Order of the Scottish Samurai and its nominees and winners at the 2019 Scottish Samurai Awards, which took place at Broomhall House in Dunfermline on 12 May 2019; commends the contributions of five north east academics who received awards, including Dr Morag McFadyen from Robert Gordon University and Professor Thomas Weber, and Dr Chris Croly, Neil McLennan and Neil Curtis from the University of Aberdeen; understands that the Scottish Samurai Awards is now in its 25th year and that the occasion was marked with the Consul General of Japan, Nozomu Takaoka, presenting the awards; passes on its congratulations to the Order of the Scottish Samurai and to Professor Will Reed on the success of his recent seminars, which were held in Aberdeen and Edinburgh from 1 to 3 May; commends all those involved with the Order for their hard work behind the scenes at the awards and the seminars, and welcomes this strengthening the bonds of friendship between Scotland and Japan.
