Shetland Success at Fishing News Awards

That the Parliament congratulates the winners and nominees from Shetland at the Fishing News Awards 2019; recognises that Chris Duncan, who is a skipper from Altaire, won the Pelagic Fisherman of the Year award and that the Whalsay-based, Research, was named New Pelagic Boat of the Year; notes that the Serene and the Tranquility were also up for New Boat of the Year awards, alongside a nomination for Duncan Cumming of the Avrella for Demersal Fisherman of the Year, Ross Sutherland of the Arcturus for the Young Fisherman of the Year title and the Shetland Shellfish Management Organisation for the Sustainability Award; believes that the strong Shetland representation at the awards is a reflection of the dedication and ingenuity of those working the in the sector, and recognises the continued importance of the fishing industry to Shetland and the wider economy.
