Motion · S5M-17434 · 28 May 2019
World Hunger Day
The motion
That the Parliament notes that 28 May 2019 is World Hunger Day and has the theme, Sustainability; believes that hunger is not just about food, but that hunger and poverty are inextricably linked to a number of issues including the ability to access decent work, health, education, social justice, the rights of women and girls, the environment and climate change; notes that the aim of the Hunger Project is to empower people living in hunger to become the agents of their own development, lifting their communities above the poverty line for good using a bottom-up approach that starts with individuals, mobilises everyone and fosters effective partnerships with local government, and welcomes the goal to end extreme hunger by 2030 at the latest, in line with the UN Agenda for Sustainable Development.
