Orkney Islands Council Campaign Shortlisted at National Recycling Awards

That the Parliament congratulates Orkney Islands Council and its MetalMatters campaign on being shortlisted for Campaign of the Year at the 2019 National Recycling Awards; understands that the awards recognise best practice and innovation in recycling and waste management; notes that the MetalMatters campaign aims to promote and raise awareness of the range of metals that can be recycled; acknowledges the contribution of the not-for-profit organisation, Alupro, which has partnered with Orkney Islands Council in delivering the campaign; welcomes news that the council has seen a 44.5% increase in metals being deposited at its household waste and recycling centres and a 19.4% increase in kerbside collections as a result of the campaign, and wishes everyone involved the best of luck when the award winners are announced on 27 June.
