Pitteuchar East STEM Pupils Visit House of Lords
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates six pupils from Pitteuchar East Primary School and their teacher, Lorna Hay, on showcasing their work in STEM at the launch of the Institution of Primary Engineers and the Institution of Secondary Engineers at the House of Lords; notes that Lord Robert Mair and senior personnel from 150 engineering firms and organisations from across the UK were in attendance; understands that the pupils and their teacher have strived to increase the visibility of engineering in their school over the last three years, and that the framework of the Institution of Primary Engineers has enabled them to engage the learners in a wide range of STEM learning experiences; acknowledges that the school has also developed its own engineering cycle based on the engineering design process, which learners refer to during STEM projects, mirroring real engineers; notes that the two institutions have been designed to help pupils and teachers structure skills, both personal and those closely related to engineering and the wider STEM curriculum, continuously throughout a pupil’s educational journey, and wishes Lorna and her pupils continued success with their STEM studies.
