Trade Union Membership Rises Again

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the latest annual statistics on trade union membership, which show that trade union membership in the UK has risen for the second consecutive year and for the fourth time in the last seven years; understands that, between 2017 and 2018, the number of trade union members rose by over 100,000 to 6.35 million; further understands that the proportion of women workers who are members of a union also increased to over 26%, which is the highest level since 2015, and urges all workers, no matter which sector they are in, to join a trade union and work collectively to improve conditions in the workplace for all.
