CHAS Volunteers and Volunteers’ Week
The motion
That the Parliament notes the start of Volunteers' Week and celebrates the fantastic contribution made by volunteers across Scotland; applauds the volunteer programme of Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) as a perfect example of an organisation embracing volunteering; recognises that CHAS has 855 active volunteers, who donated 59,310 volunteer hours and helped raise over £8 million in 2018; notes that 100% of surveyed volunteers enjoy volunteering with CHAS, 24% feel that their health and wellbeing has improved as a result of their volunteering, 34% feel that they have gained experience to help get a new job or pursue further study and 89% reported gaining something from their volunteering; recognises the positive impact that volunteers make in the third sector and wider society in Scotland, and recognises the positive impact that a well-supported volunteering programme can have on individual volunteers from all walks of life.
