St John's Hospital Unscheduled Dental Care
The motion
That the Parliament notes that NHS Lothian is consulting with staff on the future of the weekend unscheduled care dental service at St John's Hospital; understands that the service is struggling to continue due to the inability of NHS Lothian to staff the service; believes that option four in the consultation document would see the service at St John’s centralised at Chalmers Street in Edinburgh, leaving patients from West Lothian having to travel up to 30 miles for treatment; is dismayed that this follows on from reported threats to both the children’s ward and the out-of-hours GP service; calls on NHS Lothian to reject any proposal to centralise services in Edinburgh, and further calls on the Scottish Government to take immediate action to end what it considers the workforce crisis in NHS services.
