Impact Arts' Creative Ageing Volunteering Development Programme
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Impact Arts on its showcase event, which took place in Linwood on 3 June 2019 to celebrate its Creative Ageing Volunteering Programme; understands that the programme aims to build a network of volunteers to combat loneliness and develop creativity among older people in Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire by creating safe, welcoming environments for them to meet and enjoy arts activities together; notes that, over the last year, the project has involved recruiting and training creatives from a variety of disciplines to support delivery of craft café workshops in Barrhead, Linwood, Johnstone and Paisley and that the showcase was an opportunity to thank the volunteers while hearing about their personal journeys and how appreciative the craft café members have been of their work; recognises that all of the volunteers could choose to work toward achieving a Community Achievement Award and/or Arts Award as part of this programme and that funding came from the Scottish Government's Aspiring Communities fund and the European Social Fund; commends all those involved in the programme, and hopes to see its continuing success.
