Reserves Day 2019
The motion
That the Parliament recognises the contribution that members of the Reserve Forces make to defence capability; acknowledges that these forces make up approximately one-sixth of Armed Forces' personnel and provide significant capability in specialist areas, such as medical and cyber; appreciates that reservists give up their spare time to serve while balancing their civilian lives with their military duties; notes that they are liable to be deployed on active duty and that, in recent years, many have been deployed to serve in Afghanistan and Iraq; understands that Reserves Day 2019 is being celebrated on 26 June and that many reservists, with the support of their employers, will observe the day by wearing their uniforms to their civilian jobs, and thanks the many Reserve Forces across the country for their dedication, professionalism and commitment to serve.
