Marianne McGregor Wins the Rising Star Award at the Scottish Jazz Awards
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Marianne McGregor, who is from Kirkwall, on winning the Rising Star award at the 2019 Scottish Jazz Awards, which were presented in Glasgow to recognise and celebrate outstanding musical talent in the country's jazz scene; welcomes the news that, with the assistance of Help Musicians Scotland, the money raised at the awards will be used to support musicians throughout the industry; congratulates Marianne's fellow Orcadians, Chuck Dearness and Tom Pickles, on being shortlisted in the Best Band category; acknowledges the incredible amount of hard work and commitment that is put in by all of the nominees, and wishes the musicians and the event organisers every success.
