Remembering the Grenfell Tower Two Years On

That the Parliament acknowledges the second anniversary of the Grenfell Tower disaster, which occurred on 14 June 2017; remembers with sorrow the 72 lives that were lost; recognises the continued impact of this tragedy on families that were affected and the wider community; understands that more than 200 high-rise buildings in England with cladding similar to that used on Grenfell Tower are yet to have work to remove it; welcomes the reported recognition of the UK Government that more needs to be done to support the families still in temporary accommodation, and that reform of fire safety systems is required; supports the review of the Scottish Fire Safety Regime for Domestic High Rise Property, which highlights six recommendations for high-rise buildings, including the introduction of Scottish guidance regarding fire safety in purpose-built blocks of flats, and hopes that the Scottish Government will be able to implement all recommendations by the end of November 2019, as highlighted in the review.
