Democracy and Human Rights in China and the Extradition of Taiwanese Nationals
The motion
That the Parliament understands with regret that recent protests in Hong Kong against an extradition bill have resulted in violence and injuries; believes that, during its annual human rights dialogue with China, the EU raised concerns regarding human rights, including the need to ensure civil and political rights and judicial reform; supports calls for such reform; considers that peace and dialogue are vital to safeguarding universal shared values, which include the right of people to pursue their own freedom, democracy and way of life; understands that, two days after the 30th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square incident, 94 Taiwanese were extradited to China from Europe, and calls for a reconsideration of such extradition of people from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, Tibet and Uyghur to China.
