Loan Boxes
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the National Mining Museum Scotland in Newtongrange on its Loan Box scheme, which sees it offer a free service to educational organisations, community groups and care homes; understands the loan boxes cover a range of specific decades, the Second World War and so on, all containing a mix of handling objects from its collection, photographs and memorabilia; notes that loan boxes were originally developed to support reminiscence work in day and residential care settings throughout Scotland, with care professionals consulted during their development, and considers that this scheme is an excellent way of connecting former mining communities to their heritage.
