Utheo Ltd Awarded Corra Foundation Funding

That the Parliament acknowledges the £4,000 award made by the Corra Foundation to Utheo Ltd, a charitable organisation that runs the Orbiston Neighbourhood Centre in Bellshill in the Uddingston and Bellshill constituency, towards the cost of delivering its highly in-demand befriending service; notes that the charity has served the Bellshill community for over 25 years and that, within that time, has provided a plethora of invaluable services to all sectors of the community and supported some of the most vulnerable people in the Orbiston area and beyond; notes that the community centre’s volunteers achieved this by helping unemployed people to find work by developing their workplace skills through courses such as IT training, and that they provide an invaluable lifeline to older people in the community, not only through their wonderful befriending service, but also through “Theo’s Café”, which not only serves as a social gathering point, but is run under the supervision of volunteers; commends Utheo for the award and for the work that it does in the Bellshill community, and wishes it every success in its continuing work and future projects.
